NEW ISO 22343 STANDARD

TiSO has become one of the first companies in the world that tested road blockers and bollardsin compliance with the new ISO 22343-1:2023 standard (ISO 22343 further).

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ISO 22343?

The new ISO 22343-1:2023 standard for vehicle impact testing, introduced in September 2023, sets a global framework for testing vehicle security barriers (VSBs). It replaces older standards such as IWA 14 and PAS 68, which were commonly used for crash-testing VSBs.

ISO 22343 introduces several key updates:

1. Vehicle Classifications and Mass: The standard updates vehicle classifications and includes an additional mass type to reflect the changing vehicle landscape.

2. Fail Conditions: ISO 22343 introduces stricter fail conditions, particularly for excessive penetration of the vehicle into the protected zone and for vehicles that remain mobile after impact.

3. Debris Reduction: The standard reduces the allowable weight of debris from 25 kg to 2 kg, ensuring better protection against the dispersion of material upon impact.

4. Test Site Requirements: It enforces more uniform ground conditions at test sites to ensure consistent results across different tests.

 5. Camera Specifications: A real-time panning camera is now required to capture the full sequence of the impact.

Overall, ISO 22343 enhances the precision and global standardization of vehicle impact testing to ensure that VSBs are more effective against modern threats, particularly hostile vehicle attacks.

ADVANTAGES OF A PRODUCT TESTED IN COMPLIANCE WITH ISO 22343

ISO 22343 SHALLOW HIGH SECURITY ROAD BLOCKER (RB 33X)

Our shallow-mounted road blockers physically tested according to the latest ISO 22453, delivering maximum security with maximum security with certification under the new European standard (ISO 22453) and the U.S. standard (ASTM F2656). In response to our clients' demands and further confirming TiSO status as a leading global manufacturer of vehicle security barriers, we successfully crash-tested our best-selling shallow mount blocker under the latest ISO 22453 standard, with a heavier vehicle and a significantly reduced foundation! Now, our blocker ensures the highest level of protection with zero penetration while becoming even more cost-effective!

ISO 22343 FIXED BOLLARDS (273-09-S)

TiSO 273-09-S fixed bollards are an extremely durable and reliable solution for perimeter protection of important facilities. At the same time, the installation depth is 50 cm. Thanks to the ISO 22343 certification, these bollards have confirmed their ability to stop vehicles even at high speed and heavy truck weight, which guarantees the maximum level of safety.

Among the advantages of this bollard:

- installation depth of only 50 cm;

 - uncompromising protection against unauthorized access;

 - durability and resistance to external influences;

 - effectiveness for critical facilities, shopping centers, stadiums, public and private facilities

SUMMARY FOR THE NEW ISO 22453-1: 2023

ISO 22453 complements previously implemented standards such as the British PAS 68, the American ASTM F2656 and the European IWA 14-1. The aim of the new ISO 22453 is to establish more universal, global criteria for assessing the effectiveness of roadblocks in the event of vehicle attacks. The standard covers various test requirements, such as the types of vehicles and speeds at which road blockers should be tested, in order to prevent vehicle penetration into facilities and improve the security of public places.
